No Minis Because Of A Mini.

The mini that is preventing me from mini-ing is the new pup, Bracken, she is taking up a lot of my time although I don't begrudge it as she is a little gem. After my burst of activity last week with the lights in my dh and my Halloween room box nothing else has been done. I had planned to do something yesterday but we are back at the caravan this coming weekend so decided to shoot up to the Lakes to put the van back together again after its Winter shut down. Roll on 6.30pm on Friday  when we can go up there for the weekend, I am really tired at the moment and think some of it is due to not having my chill-out time at weekends. I need to re-charge my batteries.
Bracken has now had all her shots so is able to go for walks which is great as it tires her out. She really enjoyed herself on Saturday afternoon in the woods at the back of our house. It was great fun chasing Bramble around with out a cat in hells chance of catching her!! but boy was she tired on Saturday night.

Her and Bramble have become great buddies and are like the terrible twins. This was them last night after our trip up to the Lakes.

With that cheery picture I will have to leave you as my mortgage ends in 2 months, yippee,  and I have loads of paperwork to wade through, eek.
See you later....

How Pictures Tell A Story.

Just realised, on yesterdays post you can see the reflection of me in the film covering the Halloween box with my hair wrapped in a turban!! He he, I'd just had a shower and took the photo while I was waiting for the kettle to boil for my morning coffee. Note to self, Take more care in future.

Let There Be Light!

I said on Monday I had got frustrated with the lighting system on my dh and had ordered the Easy wire system.
Imagine my surprise when it turned up first thing Tuesday morning. All hail Royal Mail! After a quick look I decided to leave it for another day, not because it looked difficult, but in the same package came my LED's and battery pack for my Halloween box so it was time to completely finish that. Oh how I love the Postie bringing me little packages.I installed them and covered the wire with wallpaper on the ceiling and covered the front of the box with secondary double glazing film to stop the dust getting in. For such little things they sure throw out a lot of light.I had made a Jack-o-lantern from papier mache which I stuck on the top of the box with a battery operated, flickering tea light and some picture frame round the edge of the box completed it. VoilĂ !!

Yesterday I set to with the Easy wire and it did what it said on the tin, it was easy. 2 hours of removing 2 pin plugs, stripping wires and re-connecting the moment of truth came, switch the switch. Whey, hey all lights and fires burning brightly and first time too! It looked great last night when it had gone dark and I could peep in each window and see what the inhabitants were doing. Oops shouldn't have peeped in the bathroom, someone was having a bath.

A Frustrating Sunday And A Dilemma.

Yesterday dawned grey, miserable and cold so there was only one thing for it,stay in the warmth and do some mini-ing. I installed the lights in the attic but hadn't connected them so that was the job to do, although I must admit I have been dragging my feet a little bit as I find it a really fiddly job, take the bull by the horns and get on with it. 3 frustrating hours later, much teeth gnashing and many, and I mean many, choice words turning the air blue I  finally admitted defeat and threw the towel in. A trawl of the internet was called for and as I haven't ordered the LED's yet for my Halloween box I paid a visit to  http://www.smallworldproducts.com/    where I have purchased them from before. No luck, they still haven't got them on their website so I gave them a call this morning, but while I was browsing the site I came across an "Easy-wire" system which consists of connection blocks which seem to do away with the socket and stupid 2 pin white plugs, during our conversation the nice lady on the phone confirmed my suspicions so I ordered one, she said it will be posted out today so I will let you know later on in the week how I get on.
After the battle with the lights I was restless but couldn't settle my mind to what mini-ing I wanted to do so I went to my old standby, Teapots! I have, in various stages of construction, nearly 2 dozen teapots but not one is finished, I remedied that last night, but only one!!

So here's my dilemma, what do I do with them when they are finished? When I participated on a Forum I used to give them away but now I don't have an outlet so I was wondering whether to open an Etsy shop. Would anyone want to buy them? Decisions, decisions, my brain aches.

Tell Me Why I Don't Like Mondays?

That Monday morning feeling again, Urgh!!! I think it is compounded this morning by the fact I am back at work, although why that makes a difference I don't know as I enjoy my work, I know I'm a saddo to enjoy cleaning but it is something I really do enjoy. I go into work for 3 hours and as long as I do my job properly, which I do! I am left alone to get on with it, nobody breathing down my neck and no hassles. Bliss. I think the reason for my blues is the fact I have just had a week of annual leave and I don't know where the hell the time has gone?! All the plans I had for my dh seem to have flown out of the window, granted I have had my hands full with little Bracken but even so I feel I should have got more done. I did get it papered , a new floor and put the lights in but the lights are still not connected and I'm not looking forward to doing it as it is one job on a dh that I hate, they are so temperamental.  The bits and pieces are back in so it is looking like a proper room again.

I did plan to do the electrics yesterday but we decided to take a trip up to the Lakes to check on how the van had come through the bad weather. Luckily everything was OK, no burst pipes or anything so when we start going back (3 weeks and counting!!) there will be nothing to spoil it. It was Bracken's first trip out and although everything was new and strange to her she took it all in her stride and the staff and customers, at our local up there, made such a fuss of her. I really do miss not going to the van as it is a mini holiday at the end of the week, roll on 4th March!

Where Does Time Go?

Half way through my week of annual leave and I just don’t know where the time has gone. We picked up the new fur baby, Bracken, on Friday night so a lot of my time has been spent with her. I’d forgotten how time consuming puppies are, it’s like having a toddler in the house again, and I need eyes in the back of my head! She has settled in really well and although Bramble was wary at first, and frightened to death, they are now the best of buddies. House training has gone like a dream and although there have been a couple of accidents, she is only 9 weeks old bless, she has been really good at squeaking to let us know she wants to go out.

Fat little belly!!!

On the dh front I have managed to get a bit done. I’ve stripped the attic of wallpaper and re-papered, got the lights fixed in , although not connected yet, and made a new floor with craft sticks which I stuck onto card-stock so I can remove it if I need to get at the electrics for the rooms below.

I now need to start filling it up with toys and stuff. I feel a Fimo and Printie moment coming on but first, as it’s Thursday, I’m off to do some RL cleaning, bit of a busman’s holiday really.

See you later....

Wednesday 2 February 2011

Groovy.

I decided I better make a post today as my laptop is off on a jolly tonight to be cleaned, as in physical cleaning, to rid it of all the dust etc that these things collect over time. It is getting rather hot during use and has a tendency to just shut down which is frustrating to say the least. I do have the main PC but it is in the spare bedroom so means a trip upstairs and time out to use.

Following on from yesterdays train of thought I got back to working on my dh. When I "finished" (as much as they do get finished LOL)  decorating it nearly three years ago I then decided to buy a basement for it so things had a re-shuffle and the bathroom was moved from the attic into the main body of the house and then all the attic could become the nursery.  Although my dh is electrified I have never had lights in the attic as at the time the logistics of a sloping ceiling made it awkward but I have now solved that with wall lights and LED lights on the ceiling. The LED's usually work on a battery pack but with the transformer I have I can connect them to the household electric with one of those 2 pin white plugs (don't ask me the technical bits about my transformer as that kind of thing goes straight over my head). So yesterday and today has been spent cut the grooves for the wiring, with my trusty cordless Dremel, all very slow and tedious, but I'm getting there. I found some nice wallpaper on the internet so will print that off later and hopefully get it glued in tonight after work.

The new fur-baby is due to be collected on Friday night and that is when I start a week of Annual Leave, yippee!! so I can have time all to myself to help the puppy settle in and to also to play with my dh. Oh happy days. I'm looking forward to bringing her home but some little bit of me feels it's a betrayal to Fern as my emotions are still very raw over her. Time heals I hope.

Welcome.

Welcome to Jolie.
See you later....

Is it here yet?

I awoke this morning to a typical, tail-end of Winter, UK day, damp and dismal. My mood wasn't brightened by the fact I had a dental appointment, which passed off uneventfully. Imagine my surprise when I arrived home and happened to glance at my postage stamp sized front garden and saw....

The snowdrops are out!! Every Spring it never ceases to amaze me how such delicate flowers and shoots manage to push their way through rock hard, icy ground to let us know that maybe, just maybe, Spring is on its way.  I sure hope so I could do with a bit of sun and warmth.

I was invited yesterday to join a mini group on Facebook, which was nice, but I sure hope I don't end up like I did when I was on a Forum, too much time on the internet and not enough time mini-ing, LOL. I try to limit the internet otherwise I completely lose track of time but this looks like something I can dip in and out of as and when so we'll see how it goes.
